General Audition Requirements

1) Make sure you have completed all required application materials for the organization you are auditioning for, and have signed up for an audition slot.

2) Have a strong understanding of the 26 Standard American Drum Rudiments

3) Make sure you have learned ALL of the audition material for your instrument that has been posted by the organization.  If there is no audition material, have a piece prepared highlighting your skill level.  Make sure you can play all material cleanly at the written tempo that is asked.

4) Be prepared to sight read.  To practice this, work on your ability to read music, and practice sight reading pieces.  Start with easy pieces, and then gradually choose harder pieces.  Visit FreeDrumlineMusic.com for a large library of sheet music.

Triple check the audition requirements and materials for the organization you are auditioning for as they may be different than the general guidelines above!
